Sometimes Healing Feels Like Breaking

Updated: May 15

Nobody really tells you this part.

That healing doesn’t always feel calm.It doesn’t always feel peaceful. And it definitely doesn’t always feel like progress.

Sometimes…it feels like everything is falling apart.

Healing Isn’t Always Gentle

We imagine healing as something soft.

Like journaling. Like quiet mornings. Like finally feeling okay.

But real healing?

It can look like:

  • Crying over things you thought you were over

  • Feeling emotions you buried for too long

  • Questioning everything you once believed

And in those moments, it doesn’t feel like healing.

It feels like breaking.

You’re Letting Go of What Once Felt Safe

Even if something hurt you, it was still familiar.

And letting go of that familiarity creates a kind of emptiness.

You’re not just losing people or memories…you’re losing versions of yourself too.

And that’s not easy.

Your Mind Is Trying to Make Sense of It All

You revisit old conversations. You replay moments. You try to understand what went wrong.

Because if you can understand it, maybe it won’t hurt as much.

But healing doesn’t always come from answers.

Sometimes, it comes from acceptance.

Growth Feels Uncomfortable Before It Feels Right

Outgrowing things is painful.

Outgrowing people. Outgrowing patterns. Outgrowing who you used to be.

It creates this in-between space where nothing feels certain.

You’re not who you were…but you’re not fully who you’re becoming yet.

And that space feels heavy.

Breaking Isn’t the End

It just feels like it.

Because what’s actually happening is:

You’re shedding. You’re unlearning. You’re rebuilding.

But rebuilding doesn’t look pretty in the beginning.

It looks like confusion. Like sadness.Like starting over.

Be Patient With This Version of You

You don’t have to rush your healing.

You don’t have to be “better” within a certain time.

You’re allowed to:

  • Take a step back

  • Feel everything fully

  • Not have it all figured out

This is part of it.

Final Thought

Sometimes healing feels like breaking because you’re letting go of what was never meant to stay.

And even though it hurts now…one day, you’ll look back and realize

you weren’t falling apart.

You were finally coming back to yourself.

Not all breaking is destruction. Some of it is transformation.

True…healing can literally break you in pieces only for you to pick the ones you need and build a new version of yourself. ♥️ This is beautiful.

Yes, the process is slow and sometimes hopeless only to bring new hope, only to transform life for better. Thank you for your kind words

A letter may find you soon

Maybe some people are meant to find each other through paper.
